As the UK Government has announced “independence day” today, that is anything but, a prominent government science researcher admits that face masks are less protective from the coronavirus and are essentially just “comfort blankets”.
Dr Colin Axon, a SAGE adviser for the government spoke on London Telegraph that doctors have given people a “cartoonish” view of how microscopic viruses travel in the air, and that masks have gaps in them that are up to 5000 times more of Covid particles.
“The small size is not easy to understand but an imperfect comparison is to imagine the marbles fired on the scaffold by the builders, some may hit the pole and rebound, but obviously most will fly, ”Axon said.
“If a particle is not on a biological surface it is no longer a biomedical issue, it is just part of physics. The public has only a partial view of the story if the information is only from a different source., ”Axon continued, adding
“Physicians have some answers but not a comprehensive view.”
Noting the “mask debate about particle travel,” Axon explained that “Masks can catch droplets and phlegm from cough but what is important is that SARS CoV-2 is mostly delivered in small aerosols.”
“A small particle of Covid virus is nearly 100 nanometers, the material gaps in the blue surgical masks up to 1,000 times the size, the gaps in the glass masks can be 500,000 times the size, “Axon urged.
The professor explained that “those aerosols escaped masks and made the mask ineffective,” adding that “The public demanded something to be done, they got masks, it was just a blanket of comfort. But now it has taken root, and we promote bad behavior. ” – READ MORE
