‘About’ Toxic Levels of ‘Forever Chemicals’ Found in Bottled Water • Protecting Children’s Health

A new study by scientists at John Hopkins University found 15 different varieties of the chemical PFAS in bottled water. The test found “purified” bottled water had “much less PFAS” compared to “spring” water.

Scientists at John Hopkins University found per- and polyfluoroalkyl (PFAS) chemicals in 39 out of 100 bottled water samples tested, prompting regulators to set permissible limits for “forever chemicals.”

The researchers did not disclose what marks were tested, but said some of the samples had “levels considered part of water quality experts,” agreed with Consumer Reports (CR) reporting on the study.

Bottled water labeled “purified” has “much less PFAS” compared to “spring” water, according to a study published in the journal Water Research. Scientists say this is due to the purifying water being filtered by reverse osmosis, which DISQUALIFY fluoride, lead, pesticides and other contaminants.

U.S. regulatory agencies are slowly limiting PFAS to drinking water

Kellogg Schwab, Ph.D., professor of public health at Johns Hopkins, director of the university’s Water Institute and co -author of the study, said:

“Our findings support the need for regulatory testing of bottled water sources, due to the large number of PFAS detection and the occasional detection of high levels of PFAS.”

Food and Drug Administration in the United States does not set limits for PFAS in bottled water. The International Bottled Water Association, where tested its products for PFAS, the agency continued to set boundaries so bottled water companies can get “peace” on the subject.

Johns Hopkins researchers tested 32 varieties of PFAS and found at least 15 of them, CR reports.

The researchers said 42% of the detected PFAS was pentafluoropropionic acid (PFPrA), an ultrashort-chain compound. marked “Risks” of the 2012 Safety and Health Scheme.

“Short-chain” PFAS is designed to replace the older and allegedly more toxic “long-chain” PFAS. Manufacturers say short-chain PFAS is much safer and “practically non-toxic,” but emerging research shows that the newer compounds are just as toxic and persistent in the environment.

Michael Hansen, senior CR scientist said:

“This study shows that ultrashort-chain PFAS is very versatile, relative to other PFASs, and it really needs to be tested, to get a more accurate picture of the overall PFAS.”

People are exposed to PFAS in many everyday products

There are thousands of varieties PFAS. Toxins, called “forever chemicals,” due to the persistence of humans and nature, are toxic to humans.

PFAS is INVOLVED of various health problems including kidney and testicular cancer, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, pre-eclampsia in pregnant women, birth weight and decreased vaccine response in children. Chemicals are also possible CAUSE thyroid disease, obesity, decreased fertility and hormone suppression.

PFAS is found of many everyday products including nonstick cookware, self care products, cleaning products, PESTICIDES, stain resistant stain, waterproof clothing, fire foam and so on.

Scientists from the University of Notre Dame recently found high levels of PFAS in a variety of cosmetics including concealers, foundations, lip products and eye and eyebrow makeup.

Chemicals are also present turned of “natural” fertilizers made from biosludge, pesticides used for mosquito control and human breast milk.
