Fauci says the public is ‘misinterpreting’ the CDC’s latest mask guide

Anthony Fauci on Wednesday said many Americans are “misinterpreting” the latest Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. instruction advising that fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear a mask in most cases.

In a conversation with Taxis, Fauci told news organization co-founder Mike Allen that the new federal instruction is “the assurance of vaccinated people that they feel safe, either outdoors or indoors.”

“I think people are misinterpreting, thinking it’s a removal of a mask order for everyone. No,” Fauci said.

Fauci added that many Americans do not read the instruction with a critical eye.

“People might read it right away, or listen and hear half of it. They feel like we’re saying: ‘You don’t need the mask anymore.’ That’s not what the CDC says, ”Fauci said. “They say: If you are vaccinated, you will feel safe – that you will not be covered either externally or internally. It does not explicitly say that unvaccinated people should leave their masks on.”

With coronavirus cases falling across the country, an increasing number of states are beginning to lift pandemic bans.

However, most of the different vaccination rates in all states have prompted some businesses like Trader Joe’s and Instacart to offer their employees payment incentives to get the Covid-19 vaccine.

Other states have also created creativity with incentives to vaccinate residents.

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has announced a novel incentive program for people in his state to be vaccinated: a $ 1 million lottery. Other state incentives are included West Virginia offers $ 100 binding bonds in people between the ages of 16 and 35, New Jersey offers free beers and New York offers free MetroCards for anyone shot at a subway vaccination area.

About 37 percent of the population is fully vaccinated and 47 percent have received at least one dose, according to CDC.
