He spoke to Jim Cramer on “Crazy Money”Earlier this week about the manufacturer’s multiple order backlog.
Thor Industries – Airstream, Heartland RV, Jayco, Livin Lite RV, etc. – first started experiencing an increase in sales after lockdowns ended in May and June 2020. Without vaccines, people are too scared to fly. or stay in hotels or resorts, so they buy campers and travel. The RV industry has also seen many first-time buyers, especially the millennial generation.
The RV boom has left many vendors with limited inventory or even empty lots. The backlog of Thor’s orders was a whopping $ 14.32 billion as of late April, according to the company’s latest filing. That’s up 32.5% from $ 10.81 billion at the end of January and up to 550% from last year.
Martin told Cramer in an interview Tuesday night that the company is “Somewhat sold out for next year” with new RV inventory already going to customers instead of sitting on sellers ’lots.
“We have backlogs full of sales, so parts hit the seller and then leave, and so we haven’t been able to take inventory of our trader’s lots,” he said.
Without the ability to build an inventory of merchant lots, one would suspect there would be a shortage of RVs for Thor’s brands.— READ MORE
