“Public Health strongly recommends people wear an indoor mask in settings such as a grocery or retail store; movie theaters and family entertainment centers, and workplaces if you are unaware of the situation. to vaccinate everyone, ”the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health SAYS in a statement on Monday.
The county’s recommendation comes about two weeks after Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom removed the California mask mandate and ended the state’s lockdown provisions.
But the agency said the mask recommendation-which was not mandated-was released because officials did not know the exact effect or the rate of shipping the Delta variety. They also suggested that the variant could lead to breakthrough COVID-19 cases in vaccinated individuals.
“While the COVID-19 vaccine provides very effective protection avoiding hospitalizations and deaths against the Delta variety, the filter has proven to be more portable and is expected to become more widespread,” he said. in a statement by LA County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer. “Wearing a mask remains an effective tool to minimize transmission, especially in the home where the virus is quickly spread by absorbing aerosols emitted by an infected person.”
