Federal law enforcement and various intelligence agencies have strengthened police online speaking programs and are said to be “misinformation,” according to a report released by President Joe Biden’s National Security Council.
The report, titled “National Strategy for the Eradication of Domestic Terrorism,” details a number of initiatives and strategies to help “the threat posed today by terrorism.” Foremost among the concerns for White House national security officials is the proliferation of “Internet-based communication platforms.”
In response, the federal government, led by the Department of Homeland Security, is “funding and implementing or planning an evidence -based digital program” aimed at “improving media literacy and critical thinking skills” in public. These federal programs, the NSC alleges, will serve as “a mechanism to strengthen… resilience to disinformation and misinformation online.”
“We are taking new approaches to improve and develop digital literacy and related programs, including educational materials and interactive online resources such as online game improvement skills,” read in the report. “This could prove to be a useful component in building resilience that can help prevent domestic terrorist attraction and mobilization of violence.- READ MORE
